Welcome to Weymouth Choral Society’s spring concert featuring a lavish helping of musical treats in this selection of choral classics and tenor solos. It is fitting that in the year of the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne we open with the Coronation Anthem Zadok the Priest. Written by George Frideric Handel for the coronation of George II in 1727, it has been heard at every subsequent British coronation, its dramatic opening now recognised as one of the greatest moments of musical suspense.
