Christmas Concert

Weymouth Choral Society provided an enjoyable evening for all members of the family with carols and festive songs in many different styles. The programme presented both the contemplative and celebratory moods of Christmas and ample opportunity for audience participation in several traditional favourites.

We welcomed once again the outstanding local organist – and newly appointed society President – David Bruce-Payne, who put the organ through its paces. Talented young organist, Katie Ninham, made her first and very successful appearance with the society. The skilled piano accordionist, Louise Dukes and trumpeter Jennie Jones provided a festive selection of duets. The concert also included special guest solos from talented 11-year-old treble, Joe Lyndley, and the society performed a Christmas piece written by Ronald Swaffield for the choral society to words by A G Dickens and first performed over 50 years ago.

This was a large and satisfying helping of Christmas fare!
