We perform three main concerts a year and our musical director, Helen Brind, ensures that we perform a wide variety of music to suit all tastes. Our spring concert is often a requiem or programme of Easter-themed music. In contrast, our summer concert is a variety of lighter music, such as folk songs or excerpts from the musicals. It is, in fact, an ideal taster for those new to choral music.
In autumn we host a choral workshop with the Christmas concert following shortly afterwards. The Christmas concert features seasonal music and carols – many of which are intended for the audience to join in – and a selection of pieces from guest players and/or singers.
The Society continues its long history of supporting the local community by performing for charity, carol singing in hospitals and care homes.
