Anything Goes! On Saturday 21st June, Weymouth Choral Society presented ‘Anything Goes!’ – a packed programme of songs from the world of entertainment and musical theatre, from jazz classics to well-loved favourites from the shows.
The choral society was joined by special guests The Portland Singers who added to the variety of the evening with their own selections, and members of the Dorset Youth Singers who provided both solo interludes and also joined Weymouth Choral Society in some of their medleys. Louise Dukes will accompanied both choirs and entertained with instrumental items on her piano accordion.
The programme included gems from the shows of Rodgers & Hammerstein, Leonard Bernstein, Jerome Kern and Andrew Lloyd Webber to name but a few, with swinging and bluesy jazz numbers made famous by great artists such as Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland. Toe-tappers and tear-jerkers, nostalgia and sheer good fun – this programme provided all this and more!
There was a retiring collection in aid of Save the Children which raised £102. Thank you to our audience for their generosity.
